The Gathering is an opportunity for social investors to build networks, listen to new voices, raise sector challenges, identify market gaps, and propose solutions.
The Gathering brings together 120 of the UK’s active participants in social investment.
The Gathering is a unique opportunity to build wider relationships across the social investment sector.
At a result of the previous event, many initiatives were taken forward to drive product innovation and engage new actors in social investment.
The Gathering resulted in new projects to address venture philanthropy, pension fund engagement, diversity, data sharing, arts venture funding, capacity building and place-based investment.
Registration is now closed. Invites to buy tickets will be sent by the end of January 2019.
The 2019 programme is already taking shape and several ideas have been submitted. Currently we are organising the ideas around four themes: Connecting to the social sector; Prioritising Impact; Building the Market; Future gazing and future shaping. In addition, there is a ‘Wild Cards’ stream for standalone suggestions. You can vote or comment on the ideas submitted so far and the programme will be finalised after feedback has been gathered.
Approximately £250/individual, to include the day delegate fee, accommodation and all meals.
11-12 March 2019: We plan to hold the event at mid-day on Monday 11th March until the afternoon of Tuesday 12th March. We may hold pre or post-event workshops or site visits to showcase local social businesses. We also encourage people to stay on in Leicester, as it’s a remarkably interesting place you will want to explore.
The Gathering will take place at Leicester College Court a four-star conference venue and hotel just 10 minutes from the Leicester train station. Located in the East Midlands, Leicester is easily accessible via the M1 and M69 motorways and is just 1 hour by train from London.
There are 120 double rooms available on site at Leicester College Court. Rooms range from 5 suites, 40 executive rooms and 75 standard rooms, all modern, clean and well-equipped with en-suite bathrooms, TV, WiFi and the requisite toiletries.

Funds are available to provide selected bursaries, should the costs make the event prohibitive to attend. Please get in touch if you would like to request a bursary.
Diversity and Balance
The Steering Group have been grappling with how to best ensure we have a balance of voices and perspectives at the event. We want to make sure we have diverse attendees, with a mix of seniority and an active interest in the topics put forward for the agenda. We haven’t found the best, or right way. We are appealing to you to think about how best to reflect diversity in your attendee list.
